Whether this is your first DCAT Week or you are a returning attendee, we want you to feel prepared and supported throughout your time in New York. This guide provides helpful safety information, resources, and tips, and serves as a companion to the Convene phase of your Road to DCAT Week journey.

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE In an Emergency: Call 911 Dial 911 for emergency assistance including:

  • Medical emergencies
  • Fire
  • Police
  • Accidents

International travelers: Emergency services are available regardless of your nationality or language ability. If needed, request language assistance when speaking with the dispatcher.

DCAT Week Support The DCAT Team is Here to Help

For event-related assistance:

  • Visit the DCAT Week Office at the Intercontinental New York Barclay Hotel or the Lotte New York Palace.
  • Speak with a DCAT Week team member onsite. Refer to the DCAT Mobile App for updates and event information.

Lost or Stolen Items:

  • Visit the DCAT office located at the Barclay Intercontinental New York.
  • Contact the hotel's front desk.

HEALTHCARE & MEDICAL ASSISTANCE Go to the local EMERGENCY ROOM or call 911 for Life Threatening Issues

  • Chest pain, pressure, or fast heart issues
  • Signs of a stroke (sudden weakness, slurred speech, facial drooping)
  • Severe trouble breathing
  • Major head, neck, or spine injuries
  • Heavy, uncontrolled bleeding
  • Sudden, severe pain
  • Poisoning or drug overdose

For Non-Life Threatening Emergency concerns visit an URGENT CARE

  • Mild flu or cold symptoms
  • Small cuts or minor burns
  • Sprains, strains, or small joint pain
  • Ear or urinary tract infections
  • Mild stomach aches or diarrhea

  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Safely secure valuables, passports, and electronics.
  • Avoid displaying large amounts of cash.
  • Use official transportation options.

GETTING AROUND NYC Plan for Traffic and Delays

Subway:

  • An affordable way to travel throughout the city.
  • Contactless payment available through OMNY.

Cabs:

  • Official NYC taxis are yellow.
  • Use only licensed transportation providers.

Rideshare:

  • Official rideshare apps such as Uber and Lyft are widely available.

Walking:

  • New York is a highly walkable city.
  • Keep right and walk two pedestrians across maximum.

Tip: Save your hotel address and meeting locations in your phone before departing for DCAT Week.

MARCH WEATHER IN NYC Temperatures are Typically Cool to Mild Average daytime temperatures range from approximately 45°F (7°C) to 55°F (13°C). Conditions can vary throughout the month, so plan for changing weather.
